AOL eliminated two executive positions, including one who was just promoted to the role by the company’s new CEO Tim Armstrong, reports the Associated Press. A memo to the company described the cuts are intended to streamline the company’s structure. AOL is preparing to spin off from parent company Time Warner and follow extensive management restructuring. COO Kimberly Partoll and John Kannapell, head of search and local content, were both released from AOL. Partoll was recently promoted to the COO post by Armstrong, a former Google advertising executive. Kannapell’s local and MapQuest responsibilities will sift to John Brod, who runs AOL Ventures.
