
Bruce R. Ellig is a noted authority, author and lecturer on executive compensation. Drawing on his extensive corporate experience, he has spoken at over 400 conferences and seminars and has been quoted throughout the world on human-capital matters in such publications as Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, Investor’s Business Daily, the London Financial Times, the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Time Magazine, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. He has been interviewed on national television and radio programs, including The Today show and BBC World, and on CNBC.
Ellig is the noted author of over 100 articles and 7 books and has also served on several editorial review boards. His most recent books include: “The Complete Guide to Executive Compensation” (2001 and 2007) and “The Evolution of Employee Pay and Benefits in the United States” (2005).
Ellig retired after over 35 years of human resources experience with Pfizer. The last 12 of those years he served as corporate vice president with worldwide responsibility for the total HR function, reporting to the chairman and CEO of the company. During that period he was secretary of the board of directors’ executive compensation committee.
Ellig’s expertise has been recognized by his professional peers with numerous honors and awards including several “Man of the Year” awards and the cherished Lifetime Achievement Awards of the Society of Human Resource Management and WorldatWork. He was elected to the National Academy of Human Resources in 1993, a year after it was formed, and served as a fellow of the Employee Benefit Research Institute and the Wharton Aresty Institute.
Ellig served on a number of boards of directors (both for-profit and not-for-profit) including chairman of the national board of directors of The Society for Human Resource Management. He served on a number of advisory boards and was a member of a long list of premier HR organizations and assumed leadership positions in many of them.
He received the Distinguished Business Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his BBA and MBA and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa.
Ellig is listed in the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World.
Executive compensation is likely to grow at a slower pace than companies’ improving performance.
