
Peter York is Senior Vice president and Director of Research for TCC
Group, a consulting firm that provides strategic planning, program
development, evaluation and management consulting services to
foundations, nonprofit organizations, corporate community involvement
programs. He is also is a board member of the Alliance for Nonprofit
Management and the Alliance for Effective Social Investing.
He currently serves as an evaluator for a variety of grant-funded
initiatives and nonprofit programs, including: The California Endowment,
Atlantic Philanthropies, Gap, Inc., Wachovia, and Girl Scouts USA.
An authority in the field of capacity building, York studies,
designs, implements and evaluates the impact of investments made in
nonprofit organizational capacity building, community building, and
policy/advocacy.
York is the author of "Strengthening Nonprofit Performance: A
Funder's Guide to Capacity Building" (Fieldstone, 2005)
as well as multiple studies, papers, chapters and
reports on the topics of evaluation, capacity building and
organizational effectiveness. He is a frequent speaker at such
conferences as the Council on Foundations, Grantmakers for Effective
Organizations, and the Council of Southwest Foundations. He is currently
acting as an evaluator on New York City's Civic Corp volunteer program
and assisting in the development of strategies for addressing volunteer
service for the President Obama's National Reimagining Service Task
Force.
Directors can, and should, use the same core principles in both the for-profit and nonprofit realms.
