Moynihan: The Right Man for the Job?

Brian Moynihan was appointed CEO of Bank of America. Berkshire Hathaway, WindTamer, Walt Disney and others made changes to their board.

Berkshire Hathaway elected Comcast’s COO, Stephen Burke, to its board. Burke serves on the board of JPMorgan Chase.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York’s board of directors re-elected Chairman Michael M. Horn to a two-year term and elected Vice Chairman Jose    Ramon Gonzalez to a four-year term as a member director.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO, has been nominated to Walt Disney’s board of directors. She was previously the vice president of global online sales and operations at Google. Prior to that, she was chief of staff at the U.S. Treasury Department.

Steven DiNunzio joined WindTamer’s board. DiNunzio is currently CFO of Diamond Notch Asset Management. He previously held positions at BNP Paribas and Zurich Capital Markets.

Duncan Energy Partners elected Richard S. Snell to its board. Snell most recently served as a director of Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Co.

Jean-Francois van Boxmeer, CEO of Heineken, and Mackey McDonald, a senior advisor at Crestview Partners, have been elected to the board of directors at Kraft Foods. Their appointments bring the company’s board to 12 members.

Memjet’s board has named Len J. Lauer CEO of its company. Lauer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s business and will serve on Memjet’s board. Lauer previously served as executive vice president and COO of Qualcomm.

Sodexo has appointed Calvin Johnson as president of the hospitals division. Johnson was division vice president for hospitals in the western region and succeeds Dick Desrochers.

Biostar Pharmaceuticals named Zibing Pan and Zhongyang Shang to its board. Pan currently serves as CFO of China Education Alliance. Shang is currently director of Shaanxi Province Administration of Industry and Commerce’s Bureau of Fair Trading.

FNB Bancorp and its subsidiary, First National Bank of Northern California, has appointed Lisa Angelot as chairman and  Thomas Atwood as a director of the board.

Opera Software CEO Jon von Tetzchner is resigning from the post he has held since co-founding the firm. Lars Boilesen will take over as CEO. He previously served as the company’s vice president of sales  until 2005. He rejoined the company as chief commercial officer in 2009.

Sherman McCorkle joined the board of EMCORE. He is president and CEO of Technology Ventures. Prior to joining TVC, he served as CEO and president of Sunwest Credit Services.

Chenming Calvin Hu has been named to the board of  FormFactor. Hu is the TSMC distinguished chair, professor of microelectronics in electrical engineering and computer sciences at the University of California, Berkeley.

Wiliam C. Wallen was named to Vermillion’s board. He is currently the chief scientific  officer, senior vice president of research and development for IDEXX Laboratories.

The Children’s Place named Jane Elfers as president and CEO of the company. Elfers most recently served as president and CEO of Lord and Taylor for the past nine years.

Charles H. Ogburn has been named non-executive chairman of  Crawford & Co.’s board. Thomas W. Crawford, former president and CEO of the firm, stepped down as chairman.

Niccolo de Masi has joined Glu Mobile as CEO. De Masi was previously CEO and president of Hands-On Mobile, a developer and publisher of mobile games.

Telegent Systems appointed Eli Harari to its board. Harari is the founder of SanDisk.

Insituform Technologies named M. Richard Smith to its board. Smith is a consultant and serves on the board at Sithe Global Power and is the chairman of the board at  Evergreen Energy.

WNS Limited appointed Eric B. Herr to its board. Herr most recently was with Autodesk and Sun Microsystems. He currently sits on the board of Taleo Corp.

Phoebe A. Wood has been elected to Invesco’s board. Wood is currently a principal at CompaniesWood and served as vice chairman and CFO of Brown-Forman.

Biotechnology firm AMAG Pharmaceuticals appointed Lesley Russell to its board. Russell is chief medical officer at biotechnology company Cephalon.

Domino’s Pizza CEO David A. Brandon, named athletic director at the University of Michigan, will step down in March. The board has chosen J. Patrick Doyle to be CEO. Brandon will remain as chairman of the Domino’s board. Doyle first joined the company in 1997 and has served as president of the company’s U.S. operations since September 2007.

Rick Timmins was elected to IRIS International’s board. Timmins is a former vice president of Cisco Systems and Motorola.

GT Solar International appointed R. Chad Van Sweden to its board. Van Sweden succeed Richard K. Landers. Van Sweden is vice president of the GFI Energy Group of Oaktree Capital Management.

Biogen Idec CEO James C. Mullen will retire in June 2010. Mullen’s departure comes after 20 years at the company. During his tenure, he combated with billionaire investor Carl Icahn over the future and direction of the company.

GroupM named Rob Norman as CEO, replacing Marc Goldstein. Norman will share management duties with GroupM’s Rino Scanzoni who is chief investment officer.

Addus Homecare appointed Wayne B Lowell to its board. Lowell will serve as chairman of the audit committee and as a member of the nominating and corporate governance committee.

IAMGOLD President and CEO Joseph Conway stepped down from the company effective January 15, 2010. The firm has appointed a committee to conduct a search for Conway’s successor.
