


October 08, 2008 Recent Board AppointmentsMarc Andreessen joined eBay’s board. Andreessen is an entrepreneur, investor, and blogger. His current focus is Ning, a new consumer social networking company founded in late 2004. Prior to Ning, Andreessen co-founded Opsware and Netscape.
CIGNA announced that John M. Partridge, COO of Visa, will join its board. Partridge was appointed COO of Visa and interim president of VISA U.S.A. in July 2007. He previously served as president and CEO of Inovant.
ABM Industries elected Dan Bane to its board. Bane is CEO of Trader Joe’s, a nationwide chain of groceries stores. He was appointed to the board’s audit committee. Under Bane’s leadership, Trader Joe’s has grown to more than $6.5 billion in annual sales and approximately 300 specialty stores nationwide.
Jaime Chico Pardo will join AT&T’s board. Chico is chairman of Teléfonos de México, S.A.B. de C.V. He will serve on the audit committee. Chico has been chairman of Telmex since 2005 and co-chairman of IDEAL, a publicly listed company that invests and manages infrastructure assets in Latin America.
The Pepsi Bottling Group elected Eric J. Foss as chairman of the board. Foss also serves as the company’s CEO. Foss will resume his responsibilities as director on the PBG board. He has served as PBG’s non-executive chairman since 2007.
Gerard R. Vittecoq has been named to Best Buy’s board. Vittecoq joined Caterpillar in 1975 and held various accounting and finance positions. Today, he is responsible for the company’s EAME marketing and operations divisions, and Caterpillar production system division.
Goodyear named Stephanie A. Streeter to its board. Streeter is former chairman, president, and CEO of Banta. She joined Banta in January 201 as president and COO. She becamse CEO in 2002 and chairman in 2004. Prior to joining Banta, Streeter was COO of Idealab.
ShopNBC, a 24-hour TV shopping network, announced the appointment of Joseph F. Beradino, former CEO of Profectus BioSciences and previous CEO of Andersen Worldwide.
LiveOps appointed PayPal executive Ryan D. Downs to its board. Downs is senior vice president of global operations at PayPal. He has extensive experience running a large customer service organization.
LiveDeal appointed Sheryle Bolton to its audit committee on its board of directors. Bolton is currently a director of Austhink Software, a private company that produces decision support software. She previously was founder and CEO of QUIXIT and served as CEO of Scientific Learning.
Walgreens CEO Jeffrey Rein joins JCPenney’s board. Rein has been with Walgreens for 27 years. He was named president and COO in 2003 and became CEO and chairman in 2007.
Mindray Medical International appointed Peter Wan and Kern Lim to its board. Wan is a former partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Lim currently serves as the vice president of financial of the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
Richard J. Harrington will join Aetna’s board. Harrington served as president and CEO of The Thomson Corporation (business technology and integrated information solutions). He has held various senior leadership positions within Thomson since 1982.
Union Pacific elected Michael R. McCarthy to its board. McCarthy serves as chairman of McCarthy Group, an Omaha-based investment firm he co-founded in 1986. He is also a director of Peter Kiewit Sons’.
Palamida, a company that provides application security for open source, named Andre M. Boisvert to its board. He will serve as chairman and will take an active role in business development for Palamida.
Applied Materials announced the appointment of Alexander “Andy” Karsner to its board. Karsner has been appointed to the board’s strategy committee. Karsner served as assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) from March 2006 to August 2008.
