Whiting Petroleum has added Philip E. Doty to the company’s board of directors. Since 2005, Mr. Doty has been counsel to Ehrhardt Keefe Steiner & Hottman PC. Whiting Petroleum Corporation is an independent oil and gas company that acquires, exploits, develops and explores for crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids primarily in the Permian Basin, Rocky Mountains, Mid-Continent, Gulf Coast and Michigan regions of the U.S.
The Navigators Group has elected Robert V. Mendelsohn to its board. Mendelsohn formerly served as CEO of Royal Insurance Group.
General Motors CEO Ed Whitacre will step down as CEO on Sept. 1 and be replaced by director Dan Akerson, who will also take over Whitacre’s role as chairman at the end of the year. Akerson is currently a managing director with The Carlyle Group.
HighTower, an open-source, advisor-owned financial services company, announced that it has appointed Richard Saperstein and Andrew Morse to the firm’s board. Saperstein is a managing director, partner and leads the Treasury Partners practice at HighTower. Morse is a managing director, partner, and leads the Morse, Towey & White practice at HighTower with his two partners, Justin Towey and Bob White.
