NACD Directorship is taking an in-depth look at “What Society Thinks?” about boards and business. The purpose of this nationwide landmark survey is to gauge public opinion on common boardroom issues, including corporate governance, compensation, labor, risk management, and a range of CEO issues.
“While there are many studies that review what the boardroom thinks, our world has become more intertwined and complicated, and so a new measurement is required to tell boards what others are thinking about the work they do,” said Jeffrey M. Cunningham, chairman, CEO, and editorial director of Directorship. “The boardroom community is now very directly affected by public opinion on issues ranging from financial performance to environmental issues to regulation and compliance. The “What Society Thinks?” report (WST) will become the new resource for the boardroom community to understand, anticipate, and respond to these issues.”
The WST survey, produced in conjunction with Deloitte & Touche and Korn/Ferry International, seeks input from academics, journalists, analysts, and policy makers as well as directors and officers, in addition to the proverbial man and woman on the street.
Results will be published in the December/January issue of NACD Directorship and made available online on December 15, 2009.
