Campbell Soup paying $1.55 billion for fresh food firm

Campbell Soup will pay $1.55 billion to acquire Bolthouse Farms to aid its expansion into the packaged fresh foods business.

MarketWatch confirms that Campbell Soup has agreed to pay $1.55 billion in cash to acquire Bolthouse Farms as the New Jersey-based conglomerate expands into the packaged fresh foods business. Private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners was the seller. According to MarketWatch, “Campbell plans to operate Bolthouse as a separate business unit.”
