CFO Earns More than Buffett, Munger

Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett and Vice Chairman Charlie Munger have once again kept their salaries at $100,000 in 2007. Both men, though, received less pay than CFO Marc Hamburg.

While the pair’s salaries haven't changed for more than 25 years, neither man is struggling financially. Earlier this month, Buffett was dubbed the richest man in the world by Forbes magazine, which estimated that his fortune had grown to $62 billion and that Munger is worth about $2.4 billion, according to USA today.

Meanwhile, Hamburg was the corporation's highest-paid employee, having received $723,750 in 2007. The pay included $11,250 contribution to a defined contribution plan, which is up from the $673,500 he received in 2006, according to a filing yesterday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Buffett has long been critical of excessive executive pay, perks and stock options, so his holding company doesn't use them. The only other compensation Buffett received besides his salary last year was $75,000 in fees he collected for serving on other companies' boards. Berkshire did not list any other compensation for Munger besides his salary.
