CII Names CalPERS' Johnson Chair

Dennis Johnson, senior portfolio manager in charge of global corporate governance at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), has been elected chair of the Council of Institutional Investors.

 

Johnson succeeds Jack Ehnes, CEO of California State Teachers’ Retirement System, who chaired CII for three years. In keeping with the Council’s bylaws, Johnson was elected by the public pension fund members of the Council.

 

Johnson is one of 15 board members CII announced at its spring meeting this week in Washington, D.C.

 

Other board officers are:

 

  • D. Craig Nordlund, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, Agilent Technologies
  • Bruce Raynor, general president of Unite Here
  • Shelley Smith, vice chair of the board of Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System
  • Gail Stone, executive director of Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System
  • Warren Mart, general secretary-treasurer of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers

Other members of CII's board are:

 

  • Lydia Beebe, corporate secretary and chief governance officer, Chevron Corp.
  • Kenneth Colombo, fund coordinator, Sheet Metal Workers’ National Pension Plan
  • Joe Dear, executive director, Washington State Investment Board
  • Gail Hanson, deputy executive director, State of Wisconsin Investment Board
  • Richard Metcalf, director of corporate affairs department, LIUNA Staff and Affiliates Pension Plan
  • Meredith Miller, assistant treasurer for policy, Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds
  • Jody Olson, board chair, Idaho Public Employees Retirement System
  • Gregory Smith, general counsel, Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association
  • Michael Travaglini, executive director, Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board
