Circuit City Names COO

John Harlow has been named COO at Circuit City Stores to supervise retail stores, real estate and information technology.

John Harlow has been named COO at Circuit City Stores to supervise retail stores, realestate and information technology.

 

CEO Philip Schoonover said in a statement that the management moves “bringproven turnaround experience to the retail team” as Circuit Citylooks to improve business and focus on growth.

Harlow, 49, was most recently a retail director with DeloitteConsulting, but has also held posts with Great Atlantic & Pacific TeaCo. and Toys ‘R’ Us, the company said.

The retailer also said George D.Clark was departing as executive vice president for multichannel sales after atleast 25 years with the company.

The company’s statement disclosedother management moves, including the recent naming of Brian Bradley as seniorvice president of multichannel, John Kelly as merchandising senior vicepresident and Kelly Breitenbecher as senior vice president for supply chain andspace planning.

Circuit Cityhas posted losses over the past year amid competition from rival Best Buy Coand other chains. Earlier this month, it said December sales at stores open atleast 12 months fell 11.4 percent as changes at U.S. stores under a restructuringdisrupted business.
