Campbell Soup CEO Named Chairman of The Conference Board

Campbell Soup Company CEO Douglas R. Conant has been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Conference Board, replacing Samuel A. DiPiazza, Jr., CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers. 

 

Conant, who has been CEO of Campbell Soup since January 2001, was also elected as a director of the company at the time, and is the company’s 11th leader in its nearly 140-year history.  Conant has brought with him to Campbell, and now to the Conference Board, 25 years experience in the food industry from three of the world’s leading companies: General Mills Inc., Kraft Foods and Nabisco.

 

Additionally, Conant is also a director of Applebee’s International Inc., Chairman of the board of directors of Students in Free Enterprise, a trustee of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and a board member of the Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Processors of America.

 

The Conference Board, which creates and distributes knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society, conducts conferences, makes forecasts and assesses trends, publishes information and analysis, and brings executives together to learn from one another.
