Being named fifth in Directorship's first annual list of the top 100 influential players in corporate governance should come as no surprise to The Delaware Courts and Supreme Court Chief Justice Myron Steele, as Delaware is the charter location of 61% of Fortune 500 Companies and 53% of all publicly traded corporations in the nation.

 

Steele points to their century of written precedent and the caliber of judges for the success of the Delaware Courts. Charles Elson, one of the judges from the panel and a professor of corporate governance at the University of Delaware, noted that this ranking will make the general public and the judicial community even more aware of the actions of the Delaware Courts.
