New Appointments at Casella, The Conference Board, Steak N Shake, More...

Casella Waste Systems Inc. has named Michael K. Burke to its board.

 

Burke has served most recently as CFO of Intermagnetics General Corp., a medical device company, from December 2001, until the company was acquired by Royal Philips Electronics in November 2006.

 

Burke replaces D. Randolph Peeler, who has served as a designee of the holders of the Series A Convertible Preferred Stock of the Company, which was redeemed in August 2007.

The Conference Board named Bart van Ark as the firm’s chief economist and vice president.

 

Van Ark, a Dutch national and the first non-U.S. chief economist in the Conference Board’s 92-year history, steps in for Gail D. Fosler, who in October was named president of the global, independent business membership and research organization.

 

Van Ark has been the Conference Board’s consulting director of international economic research since 1997, and produces its annual flagship publication on productivity.

Steak N Shake Co., in several changes to its management structure, named Wayne L. Kelley as Interim Chairman and CEO.

 

Kelley replaces Alan Gilman, who was not reelcted as a director at the company's recent annual meeting of shareholders. Kelley will serve in the rolls until a permanent successor to Gilman is found. The company also named CFO and Chief Administrative Officer Jeffrey A. Blade as interim president.

DuPont has announced that Alexander Cutler, chairman and CEO of Eaton Corp., will be a nominee for election to its board during the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting on April 30.

 

In addition, the company also said that board member Masahisa Noitoh, chairman and CEO of The Institute of Energy Economics in Japan, will not stand for re-election at the annual meeting, as he has reached the board’s mandatory retirement age of 70 after eight years of service.

 

Cutler has led Eaton Corp. since 2000, and precisely served as the company’s president and COO.
