New Board Appointments at AIG, Others

American International Group appointed Suzanne Nora Johnson, former vice chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group, to its board. Johnson had been at Goldman Sachs for more than two decades in roles including the head of the global investment research division and the chairman of the global markets institute.

Texas Instruments named Stephen MacMillan, president and CEO of Stryker Corporation, to its board of directors. MacMillan has nearly 20 years of experience in the medical industry. He joined Styker in 2003 as president and COO. In 2005, he assumed the role of CEO.

Ed Bernstein has joined AdEx Media’s board of directors. Bernstein has raised over $60 million in private capital working with a variety of capital and strategic investors including U.S. Venture Partners, Softbank (now Mobius) Venture Capital, Steamboat Ventures (the funding arms of the Walt Disney Company), Canaan Partners, El Dorado Ventures, Scripps Ventures, EM Ventures, Sun Microsystems, and Epson America.

Thornburg Mortgage appointed Thomas F. Cooley, PhD, to its board. Cooley serves as the Richard R. West Dean at the New York University Stern School of Business, where he is also the Paganelli-Bull Professor of Economics.

Kowabunga! named Charles Pope to its board of directors. Pope will serve on the company’s compensation committee, nominating committee, and as chairman of the audit committee. Pope is the CFO of Aerosonic Corporation, worldwide manufacturer of aircraft instruments.

SEMA appointed Luanne Brown, president and CEO of eTool Developers, to its board. Brown is a member of the Aftermarket Industry Association and the Car Care Women’s Council.

Avnet appointed William P. Sullivan, president and CEO of Agilent Technologies, to its board. Sullivan has served as president and CEO of Agilent, a provider of bio-analytical and electronic measurement solutions, since March 2005.
