GAAATCHA! Disney Snatches Marvel in $4B Deal

Disney is set to acquire comic book maker Marvel in a $4B deal.

Disney will add to its impressive empire by acquiring comic book and media company Marvel for a purchase price of approximately $4 billion, according to CNNMoney. Marvel, which owns the rights to a number of lucrative action-hero franchises, was valued at about $38/share before Disney’s offer. If the deal goes through, Disney will pay a cash-stock offer valued at $50/share, a 29 percent premium. “We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation,” said Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger.
