Florida pledges $155 million in tax breaks to companies promising jobs

Florida pledged $155 million in tax breaks to companies, who promised to create up to 32,570 jobs in return.

“Since January 2011,” the Lakeland Ledger reports, “Florida has pledged nearly $155 million in tax breaks and other incentives to companies promising to create jobs in the state.” According to a Florida Department of Economic Opportunity database, these pledges have come with promises to create up to 32,570 jobs. Among the biggest corporate winners have been Bi-Lo LLC, the new owner of Winn-Dixie Stores; The Boeing Co.; and Raymond James Financial.
