AmEx Prez Kelly Departs to Seek CEO Post

Alfred Kelly has stepped down as president of American Express to pursue possible CEO opportunities.

American Express President Alfred Kelly will leave the company early next year to seek an opportunity as a CEO elsewhere, reports Reuters. “In the context of discussions we have had about longer-term plans for the organization, Al made clear to me that he wanted the opportunity to run a company as chief executive,” American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault said in a statement. Despite the recent CEO vacancy at Bank of America, Kelly is not expected to fill that position. Steve Squeri, who was in charge of technologies and corporate development, will lead the global services group.

It took me some time to find this out. I am glad you took the giant step-which I always knew you would. Best of luck, if you need a worn out out assistant that would work his behind of for Al kelly, give me a shout
