London Stock Exchange listed companies to report carbon emissions

All companies listed on the London Stock Exchange’s main market will be required to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions by April 2013.

“U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announced [Wednesday] that all companies listed on the London Stock Exchange’s main market will have to start reporting their greenhouse gas emissions,” reports Energy Efficiency News. According to Clegg, the mandatory reporting requirements will go into effect April 2013 and cover the following financial year. “They will make the U.K. the first country to introduce compulsory reporting of emissions data with annual reports,” the publication notes. “The government will review the new requirement in 2015 and consider whether it should be rolled out for all large companies from 2016 onwards.”
