Monks: Supreme Court Expanding Corporate Power

Robert A.G. Monks is weary of the Supreme Court awarding too much power to Corporate America.

Robert A.G. Monks, a Directorship 100 honoree in 2008, writes about Chief Justice Roberts and the relationship between the Supreme Court’s “judicial activism” and the corporate world in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance blog. Monks contends that the conservative activists of Robert’s Court are set to turn over the American elective process to the “tender mercies of Corporate America.” Monks chides the Court’s direction toward “increasing the power and influence of America’s corporate entities.” Among topics discussed, Monks brings up the following concerns:

1. Freedom of Speech for Corporations
2. Curbing Corporate Influence on Elections
3. The Roberts Majority and Corporate Influence in Politics
4. Citizens United and the Unshackling of the Genie
5. Overrule Bellotti!
