Morgan Stanley Chief Paid $1.6 Million in Compensation

Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack was paid about $1.6 million in salary and other compensation for the 2007 fiscal year. The firm's overall profit fell about 57 percent, according to Reuters.

Mack’s total compensation neared $18 million last year, according to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, reports Reuters. The total included $16.5 million in gains from the exercise last year of previously granted options and stock grands. Much of the other compensation related to Mack’s use of company aircraft.

Still, Mack did not receive a bonus, which is consistent with is request that he not receive one in light of Morgan Stanley’s $3.59 billion loss in the fourth quarter.
