Quinn signs tax break disclosure bill

Corporate tax break deals must be publicized as soon as they are completed in Illinois under a new law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn.

“Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation requiring the publicizing of details of corporate tax breaks as soon as they’re completed,” according to the McDonough Voice. The measure is a diluted version of a bill sponsored by state Rep. Jack Franks (D-Marengo). The original initiative would have required a committee to review all tax-break deals, but that measure was removed. Franks called the new law “a good start” to bringing transparency to the process of corporate tax credits.
