Cisco Systems has appointed Arun Sarin, the former chief executive officer of Vodafone Group, to its board. He served as a Cisco director from 1998 to 2003 and has also led Accel-KKR Telecom, InfoSpace and AirTouch International, said Bloomberg. The appointment is effective immediately. “No one knows mobility and telecommunications better than Arun and we’re glad to have him rejoin our board,” Cisco CEO John Chambers said. Cisco’s board includes Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz, National Semiconductor Corp. CEO Brian Halla, and John Hennessy, president of Stanford University. Cisco shares have gained 36 percent this year.
