SEC Convenes Rating Agency Confab

The Securities and Exchange Commission will host a series of panels throughout the day today to address the topic of credit ratings agencies and potential changes to their regulation.

The Securities and Exchange Commission will host a series of panels throughout the day today to address the topic of credit ratings agencies and potential changes to their regulation. The panel will begin at 10:00 a.m. (EST) and run through 4:15 p.m., with a lunch break at 12:30 p.m.

The roundtable includes four distinct panels:

  • 10:10 a.m. — Panel One: Current NRSRO Perspectives: What Went Wrong and What Corrective Steps Is the Industry Taking?
  • 11:30 a.m. — Panel Two: Competition Issues: What are Current Barriers to Entering the Credit Rating Agency Industry?
  • 1:15 p.m. — Panel Three: Users’ Perspectives
  • 2:45 p.m. — Panel Four: Approaches to Improve Credit Rating Agency Oversight

The roundtable will be held in Washington D.C., but is also available as a webcast.
