SEC Investor Advisory Committee Announces Subgroups

Three new subcommittees by the SEC’s Investory Advisory Committee look to tackle the issues facing today’s shareholders.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has announced the formation of three separate subcommittees beneath its Investor Advisory Committee, a new group aimed to give investors a greater voice in regulatory discussions. The Committee, co-chaired by AARP Financial’s Richard Hisey and TIAA-CRED’s Hye-Won Choi, “has identified three important and timely broad subject areas to delve into, and the Commission looks forward to receiving its perspectives,” said SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro. The three subcommittees include an Investor Education Subcommittee, an Investor as Purchaser Subcommittee, and an Investor as Shareholder Subcommittee. The Investor Advisory Committee will meet next in early October.
