A new study from the Corporate Library demonstrates that compensation levels for company executives went largely unchanged last year in spite of a spiraling economy, according to CNNMoney. The Corporate Library said that median change in compensation for chief executives was a decline less than one tenth of a percent. The small drop suggests “that the link between CEO pay and firm performance remains very weak,” according to the study. The study also showed a median change in total realized compensation of -6.4 percent in 2008, compared with a gain of 7.5 percent the prior year.
