Carlyle Largest PE Firm

The Carlyle Group is the largest private-equity firm in the world trumping Goldman Sachs, TPG, Korhlberg Kravis and CVC Capital Partners.

 

In its second annual ranking, Private Equity International magazine says it gleaned its apple-to-apple comparisons of the amount of money raised by each PE firm over a five-year period by "working on background" with many of the listed firms as well as market sources and published industry date.

 

Carlyle-affiliated private-equity funds have drawn commitments of $52 billion since January 1, 2003, PEI reports. Eleven newcomers make the list.

 

Combined, PEI reports that the top 50 global firms havce raised an aggregate of $810 billion over the last five years.
