Darden suit now includes 50 plaintiffs

A lawsuit alleging Darden Restaurants underpaid servers has expanded to 50 plaintiffs, who are petitioning for collective-action status.

“A federal lawsuit filed in September by two former employees of LongHorn and Olive Garden in Florida that alleged Darden Restaurants underpaid servers now includes 50 plaintiffs,” the Orlando Business Journal reports. The lawsuit charges the restaurant owner and operator of requiring servers to work off the clock and perform too much non-tipped work such as cleaning. The plaintiffs’ lawyers are petitioning for collective-action status, which in turn could add thousands of employees to the suit.
